Stimulate the Economy--

The following information is being sent to help you decide how to spend your IRS Rebate Check wisely:

Each of us soon will get a rebate check to stimulate the economy.

If we spend that money at Walmart, all the money will go to China.
If we spend it on gasoline, it will go to the Arabs.
If we purchase a computer, it will go to India.
If we purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.
If we purchase a good car, it will go to Japan.
If we purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan.

Therefore, none of the above will help the American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America, So spend it at yard sales!!!

(I got this from a homeschool message board that I am part of...I thought it was too great to not pass along! oh and btw, I don't really believe all of that from above...I just thought the push for garage sales was funny!)

WhooHoo...who's with me!?!?! Anyone want to load up the kiddos and drive around looking for good garage sales?!?!? I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to do the "garage sale spring fling"...or do I want to have my van detailed out with New Kids On the Block...or maybe some racing flames on the ol' van??? Tough decisions when it comes to free money and stimulating the economy. I take this stuff serious...really I do!

You forgot to mention help support someone's adoption (OR save for your own!!!) :)

Very thought producing!! We're going to "stimulate" the economy by paying on our debt from previously buying many of those things mentioned!

Seriously, forget the sweet details on the mini van...Those things will all fade away! But being able to SEE NKOTB in PERSON, that will never fade away!! Henceforth, I would save up for gas money to follow them around on tour!

Only if you come with me...we can take turns watching the kids in the car while the other one goes in for the concert?!?! We better buy the Big Tub of Goldfish for this roadtrip!

I even tried to find the lyrics to the song...I can only remember about two lines of that baby. I loved that song...I used the call the radio station during request hour and request it! Ah the good ol' days! Now I want to sing it to my kids...but I can't remember the lines.

Sing it to me, K-mum and Heth!!!!!

I tried to convince my husband to name our dog "Germs".... it was the deal we made when we bought her.... I'd agree to a hunting dog if he agreed that I could name her. When he heard I wanted "Germs"- he cut me out of the deal!

My very best friend is my little shaggy dog,
Chewing on my tennis shoes and running through the hall.
He's kinda like my shadow 'cause he's everywhere I go,
He sleeps in my bed but my momma doesn't know..

Chorus:
I hide him in my pocket 'cause he's very very small,
Germs, Germs my invisible dog.

He runs like the wind, and he knows some funny tricks
He doesn't like carrots, and spinach makes him sick
He loves cotton candy, and purple lemonade
Oreo Cookies, and yellow gatorade.

Chorus

We ride our ponies to castles far away,
Chasing phony dinosaurs and dragons on the way.
We often go exploring where the river winds and bends
Acting like Tom Sawyer, and Huckleberry Finn.

Chorus

I take him to church, but nobody ever sees,
the little shaggy puppy dog, sittin' on my knees
He's learning Bible verses and he loves a happy song
But he often falls asleep when the sermon is too long.

Chorus

YES...I knew someone was appreciating my requests called into KNDR! Whew...you are GOOD, Bets!

I'm sorry you got cut from the dog deal...I love "Germs".

Heather said...

Betsy, YOU ARE MY HERO!!!!!! I can't believe you knew all of the lyrics!!! I couldn't even read them, I was singing them!! I am going to have to print them out!!

I wonder if I called into request hour if they'd still play it??

I wonder if they still have request hour??

I wonder if I could get my 4y.o. to call in and request it??

This opens up a whole new world of FUN for me!!!

Oh my gosh, I totally forgot about that song. That was AWESOME.

Cute post Laura. Sadly true...

OK...I hate to admit I'm totally lost on the whole "Germs" discussion, but song lyrics have never been my thing.

As to spending $$$...well, that's a whole lot easier! Actually, we have to fork some of it over to the contractor who finished our basement...then maybe we should save some for our upcoming dentist appointments. Or, with the way grocery prices are these days, we'll probably just end up spending it on that! :-)

How about using that special paycheck from the government on the biggest, grandest, backyard playset you can imagine for your kids!

Just a thought.

Karen--I am all about doing my part to help our economy. I am proud to be an American and to spend free money from the government to stimulate the economy.

That is such a good idea! We'll spend it on baby furniture...I don't know if we can find what we're looking for at yard sales..

I am purchasing an Uncle Sam costume, standing next to school when it lets out, randomly handing out 5 dollar bills to any students who will accept while screaming at the top of my lungs "Love your government or die"

Outside of that, no real plans
