I do declare (said in my best southern-belle accent)---

OK...I have come to the conclusion that sleep is a non-essential for me! It is completely irrelevant, and really I have no idea what the big hoopla is about getting enough of it. A person is able to function on very little, extremely interrupted, sporatic moments of sleep. With that being said, if you ask me today's date...there is a pretty good chance I will have no clue. If we are in the middle of a conversation, I very likely will completely forget what we are talking about. And if I was a good blogger, I would not have missed de-lurking week...but I did.

So therefore, since this is my blog and I can make up the "rules"...I am declaring a new de-lurking week! If you are one that just likes to read my blog...post a quick comment...I'd love to see you. Don't worry about making yourself committed to regularing commenting...this can be a one time deal! Regulars you are always welcome to leave your comments too...just no asking me any detailed questions (like the date).

I have left comments before so I don't consider myself a lurker...when I read you blog i fell like I'm in the middle of a wonderful novel. Anyway...I know what you mean about the slepp thing- or the lack of...we are fostering a 3 week old baby boy and I think I'm too delirious in LOVE to care about sleep. It's SO wonderful to HAVE a newborn and not to have to have HAD a newborn...know what I mean???

I have been reading your blog for some time. I got hooked from Camp Girdwood. We traveled with Courtney & Brian to Russia in May 2005.

found your blog form someone else's. sorry I have no idea who.
been following you since about the time you left for Florida. God has me here for a reason, so I'm enjoying getting to know you and your BEAUTIFUL spirit and willingness to live outside the lines!

So, is de-lurking a time when one comes out the closet to admit they read your thoughts and check your blog three times a day for updates?

I delurked along time ago, but I always love an excuse to leave a totally mundane comment that is either absurd or misinterpreted.

I live to comment!
It's the best part, maybe even better than posting! To give and receive comments is like chocolate cake at 3am.

I am de-lurking to say HI! I started reading your blog when you began posting about your adoption story. I cried with you earlier in the "walk" and cried when I saw pictures of you bringing Hudson home. He is just beautiful!! I want to squeeze those cheeks!! Hugs from a FIAR friend!

Hi. I think I've left comments before. I can't remember how I found your blog, but we're adopting two children from FHG, so I probably found your blog through come connection there at some point.

I commented a long time ago, and haven't really kept up with a lot of blogs, so imagine my surprise when I saw a new addition to your family! The last I had read, the news was not good. But now, WOW!! Congratulations to you all and may God bless the work He has started in your family. You have had such faith through this adoption journey, and God is so faithful to provide.

De-lurking is a good idea... and I am def. a lurker! I too got hooked via Camp Girdwood's blog. Your story has been an inspiration. That little boy is so darn cute!!! And your girls are beautiful. I also need to comment on, although WAY past due, the shirts you and your husband wore @ the hotel,LOVED it... I am in awe of the love and devotion you two portray. Rock on. Oh, and the Wii video at the Girdwood's, hilarious. Ok, I think I'm de-lurked.

Hi!

I'll come out from lurking as well. I started reading your blog when you began posting your journey to get Hudson. Thank you for sharing such a personal experience. It is so encouraging to me as we are just starting the adoption/fostering process.

Thanks from a FIAR friend,

I have enjoyed your story. I have prayed for you and your journey. I know God is using you to be a blessing to your family.

Is this just cyber lurking I have to confess;)? I just love comments don't you?! I think it is good blog ettiquette to leave a comment when you stop by. But I admit to stopping here many times wait for the first pics of Hudson, if I had left comments every time the comments for that night would have been like 3,927. Is this getting to complicated are you drifting off thinking of you bed:) BLessings to you and may Hudson sleep for 4 straight hours tonight.

Your son is gorgeous!

O.K. So sometimes I lurk on your blog only when I don't know what to say. Mostly I like to leave comments as anonymous and make up nicknames! Sorry, for that...it's my own form of entertainment (I don't get out much these days). Also, I'd like to come out and tell all those of you who comment on this blog, I

oops, sorry I hit a button and it posted. I would delete it and start over but I know what a big uproar that causes....Anyway, what I was about to say was that any of you who have commented on this blog, I have probably lurked on your blog as well. I didn't know it was de-lurker week or I would've come out and told you last week...

Laura, If you remember, we met at Stephanie's party and Joel and I were at the adoption seminar, too. I have been a "regular lurker" since Steph started adoptingarrows. I finally caught myself up on your whole story just recently and one of the neatest things to me was in April you wrote that Matt prayed the Lord would bring home your two children by the end of the year debt free. I couldn't stop the tears of joy and thankfulness because as I read that you were on your way home with Hudson BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR! And debt free??
Praises to an AWESOME GOD!!
Thanks for letting me de-lurk!

wOw!! Pretty awesome to see everyone that checks in our your lil' ole' life, huh?? Well - no surprises here - I'm with you for the long haul:=)

p.s. are you KIDDING me about a new post?? I have nothing to say. Maybe I will post a post about nothing. That'll be like a Seinfeld episode. Right now, I am struggling with high altitude baking. Won't that be a fascinating topic?? Oh yeah, & I realized that I am doubting God's enoughness. And I have a life full of idols. Yeah, I guess I have some material to blog..I'm just lazy.

Hi, this is Erin, I just started your blog before you went to get your little man. We are Canadian and I think I found your blog from Justine! I think! My husband and I are adopting from the US as well and I just wanted to say-your story has had me in tears-I bawled my eyes out when I saw your pictures from the airport, and I have been praying for your family too! You give me hope that it will happen soon for us too! May the Lord bless your beautiful family! Sorry I haven't commented before- I have really slow dial up and it won't often let me! You are welcome to check out my blog-www.adoptinghopeandfaith.blogspot.com. Blessings

I am so glad that I found your blog. I have really enjoyed the chats we've had. It has been a joy to watch God walk you through all the doors to get to your beautiful son. I bet you never thought this is how it would turn out...Perfect. Exactly how God planned it right from the beginning.
You have been such a huge encouragement...Thank you for sharing your story with us!

Okay I lurk daily and comment ever so often. Your journey has been amazing to watch and to read about. One of my favorite things has been to watch your girls though this process and listen to their prayers during Adventure Club. Thank you for being so open and sharing your honest thoughts and feelings throughout your journey. I am encouraged by your faith in our Savior! I love it when you post pictures of your beautiful family!! May you continue to be blessed this year.

I'm changing my mind... while I don't officially lurk (since I post often enough)... Courtney, I am the #1 "Stalker". We might have to wrestle for the title. hehehe

Sorry K-MUM. I visit at least 10-15 times a day. That makes me the number one stalker.

Well, actually ladies....I not only lurk on your blog Laura, sometimes I even lurk around Laura's house and even peak in her windows to see if she is home. (of course, only if I think she is interested in a trip to Wal-mart) Now, I even know their garage code, so you never know I might just show up in their kitchen one day, baking zuchinni bread. Now, my other deep, dark secret....my name really isn't Mabel either. Now..that all that confessing really probably makes me a lurker and a stalker. Mabel

I am definetly a lurker, and getting hooked on more blogs by the minute. I love your story, I love your writings and I'm so happy Hudson is finally home. You give me hope, thank you.

Hi there Laura - its Clifford.

I am a lurker too, I've been known to gawk, sightsee, be mesmorized, stare into space, not pay much attention, fall asleep while watching kids, drop them out of shopping carts (3 out of 5 anyway), and other foibles. Well nobody perfect - that what mama says. Oops Mabel just reminded me that not what mama says - mama says when she comes to my birthday party - alls well that ends well - and she has made all 43 of them!! Ain't that a record - mama don't miss birthdays.

So nice of you to blog. Mabel had a little blog - but she had it removed - thankfully it was benign.

It was so fun to eat at Pizza Ranch last night - I liked it so much - I went back for lunch today.

Signed
Crazy and sometimes cranky Clifford

ps - I'll be glad when the annual meeting is done on Sunday - maybe I'll go to Pizza Ranch again - long live cactus bread! Yummmmy!

pps - Mabel just told me I am the only man to comment on here. Is that true? Sorry to interrupt Estrogenalooza - I'll crawl back in my cave now. Ta ta.

cassie said...

well clifford, i'm glad you have finally de-lurked!! and i don't think you're the only man to comment - i'm thinking that a certain rockstar has now de-lurked and may also be a man. hmm. 3 out of 5? who were the two lucky ones:)?

laura - your blog is my favorite part of the day:). love you!

The RockStar said...

Yes, sadly I was not counted as a man. {sigh} I have been called worse .. I guess .. but that sure is a blow to the 'ole testosterone levels.

Anonymous said...

To Brian the rockstar - my apologies a hundred fold - in my haste to get to the bottom of the page I overlooked your post.....Can I please send you a fresh batch of zuchinni bread as a peace offering?

And to Cassie - the lucky ones who have yet to fall out of a cart are children #4 and #5. I guess I should send them with their bike helmets when they go shopping with Dad...

For all you people who lurk 10-15 times a day, may I suggest bloglines? Then you can not click the same sites over and over and only check in when a new post has been posted. Incredible, revolutionary concept! :)

I don't know if I'm a lurker, because I do comment. And I officially got to gaze into his eyes last night! Woohoo. He's gorgeouser in real life, believe it or not!!

Ok all you lurkers and stalkers, you can go over to my blog and see pics of Hudson. Yes I have meet him in person, and he is one darling little person. Scroll down and see how you can help Laura's friend Steph with their adoption.
Enjoy this day of your Blessed life.

I read your blog from time to time...I happened to click in, just as Hudson was coming and was hooked there for awhile...daily lurking, but now I am back to once-or-twice-a-week lurking =)

(I am Dan's sister-in-law, and I found you through comments on his blog long ago...and maybe my mother-in-law's blog as well.)

It's been fun to "peek" into your journey, and to see the obvious support from all of your wonderful friends. May God continue to bless your family greatly, as you bless many as well!

Hey there Laura...

I realize I've missed your "deadline" for your self-proclaimed week of de-lurking, but I'm going to do it anyway (better late than never is often my motto these days!). I feeling the need to "confess" my "lurking" tendancies...yes, I am an official "blog lurker" - and I didn't even know that was really a term! I have your blog listed in my favorites...and I visit often. I enjoy reading your posts...and all of the fun comments from other bloggers, too! I think I actually have posted a few times, but I guess I just never feel like I have anything "snappy" to say...so, I "lurk" off to another blog somewhere. :-) Thanks so much for chronicalling (is that a word?) your life, your prayers, your funny thoughts, and your deepest hopes and yearnings, too... What a joy is has been to see how God has worked in you through your journey to adopt CUTE little Hudson! He is a chunk! :-)
We miss seeing your smiling face up here in the COLD NORTH!
Love (for all of us Heydts),
Lori

Hi Laura...It's Matt's cousin Sue in MN...I've been reading and praying for your family since day one! I've really gotten to know who you are as a person and I couldn't be more proud to call you my family!!! I have several of your pics displayed in my cube at work; it's so fun to introduce who you are and what you did! I can't wait to meet Hudson one day, and will continue to keep you guys in our prayers! Love you!

You posted about FIAR? I am doing that with Hope and Ike. I missed that post. Dang. Saying HI -- saying I love you -- not really delurking -- I check about once a week but sometimes I get behind and I HATE that ... then I miss posts that I need to see ... like the FIAR post. Gonna go find it now.

Love your little guy's cheeks ... award winning. Thanks also for asking ppl to pray for Lyd - wow, I am touched.
