The measure of success???

Does today count as a successful day just because not only did Hudson get a bath, but I was able to take a shower today too? The girls finished their schoolwork. The kitchen was cleaned up. The dog was fed and watered. I read and took a little nap with a special 4 year old. I fed the baby and kept him dry. I spent time with the Lord. Do all of these things add up to a successful day? If I look around there are still loads of laundry to do. Beds that need to be made. I have absolutely no clue what to make for dinner. Our vaccum cleaner broke, so the floors are icky. There is still that table full of junk that I need to go through. Lessons that need to be graded. Books that need to be read. Garbages that need to be emptied. On and on the list could go...

Can someone tell me what is the measure of a successful day?!?!

I don't think there is away to measure it. There's always that list of stuff that's left undone and even if it was all done,I don't think you could measure if it was a success. It's not about what got accomplished as much as it is about how much you loved. And from my calculations you loved a lot of people and are truly loved in return. So, yes today was a huge success:)

Yep. I'd say that success, when a new baby comes into the house, is equivalent to talking in complete sentences. After that everything else is a bonus. And if you happen to practice good hygiene...well, that is just extraordinary.

baby got a bath, and mommy is clean too. Time spent with our Lord...a successful day in my book!

For me, success is falling into bed at night exhausted from serving and loving my family with abandon! :)
In my book, you had a very successful day!!

Yes, the "list" of things to do around the house IS never-ending, isn't it?? It can be hard for ME not to measure "success" in feeling like if I got a LOT of things accomplished, then I had some good "success"!!

But, true success comes not in what we DO, but in how much SUGAR we eat!!! Right? Here is yet another post that I can write, bring on the OREOS!!! :-)

Just kidding...of course THAT is not the measure of "true success"!!! But, I would agree with the other ladies here that success is not in what we DO, but how we show and shower God's love to those He has placed in our lives. And, knowing YOU, that is happening over there!!!

Keep on keepin' on, my friend!!

LOVE was the first thing that came to mind when thinking of how to measure a successful day...

But attitude can be everything too! It isn't necessarily how much we do or don't do or if we get something "done" but how did we do it? And so, in looking at the "Big Picture" what a way to raise your kids! To have them know that curling up with them, bathing them, loving on them, schooling them, tresuring those times were done despite the list of things "to do":-)

Did that make sense:-) I have very similar days here at my home too...isn't it great...

O.K. I am going to have to go with Kristi on this one. It really depends on how much sugar you consume....................................................................................................Sorry, I was eating a sugar cookie...Now, my day too, was successful!

Oh - totally a success! I only hope I can live up to your standards when I am a SAHM, who cleans, has a baby, more kids, home-schools, cooks delicious dinners every night. :)
Girl, you have big shoes to fit into!

Hey L,
I found your blog through a friend of a friend of a friend. I read all of your entries in one evening. I met you in GF during my college days and hanging out with Jim S. Small world. I just wanted to let you know, your life has touched my heart. Keep it up! I will be praying for you and your family.
Blessings,
Tricia

I think all of that combined counts towards success. You've got a family to provide and love and they are there to keep you busy.
