Those were the words Matt just told me yesterday about what I have done with our bedroom. For the last nearly 12 years of marriage our bedroom has been the "dumping grounds"...like when people are coming we quick throw everything in our room and close the door. :) On Tuesday morning I decided to rearrange the room just in case we get called by our social worker. The way it was set up the baby's crib would have been right by the door, and that just wouldn't work. So while Matt was working on Tuesday...I was busy huffing and puffing the furniture around the room. I can not believe the change the layout has made in the whole "feel" of the entire room. It really is beautiful now. It does feel like a "retreat", so I couldn't believe it when Matt actually said it. I had always read that as wives we are suppose to create a retreat in the master bedroom. I have always thought that was a great idea, but not an attainable idea for me! (I mean, come on, where in the world are all of the dirty clothes suppose to go???) I still want to paint the wall that the bed is up against...but am contemplating the color.
Anyhoo...just wanted you to know that I feel like I actually accomplished something this week...And it sure feels good!

I so hear you! Isn't it amazing the "heart lift" you get when you are in an organized, clean room. Makes my brain feel less cluttered! Enjoy your room. *wink*
Ahhh...Thats so funny. I just redid my bedroom after my hubby left for Iraq to give myself a sanctuary. I painted my room blue and have white bedding and black furniture. Just stuff, I know but man it makes you feel good to have a "retreat". My vote is light blue;)
Baby crib?
Yes, Anonymous...Baby Crib. If we adopt domestically it will be an African American or bi-racial baby. This is the route that the Lord is leading us on, so we wait with anticipation for Him to bring His child to us.
do we get pix? I love the idea of a 'retreat'. I have been praying about that this week, do I want to make the bedroom into a retreat or get a water softner or buy Christmas presents. Oh the choices!!!

Sounds like quite an accomplishment!
WooHoo - Now, have some "FUN" in that retreat!!!
And I vote for eggplant color on the wall or a sea tuquiose color! :)

I am a chocolate brown kind of girl (reminds me of coffee!) - we usually re-arrange our bedroom (& other rooms) every 2-3 months....it "helps" not get so bored & you get a lot of cleaning done when you move the furniture! A really inexpensive make-over:)
YAY!!!!! Forget the room! I am SO excited about your new possible addition to your family. I am praying he or she will be home super soon!!!!!
Thank you for all of your color votes! I loved all of your suggestions...but the winner is---drum roll please---Sara!
Sara...I am totally a reds and browns girl. As the winner you get to book your own ticket to come visit me and help me paint! :)
My quilt is reds and taupes...so a chocolatey or walnuty wall will be a nice accent I think. I haven't looked for a color swatch yet...just imagining it!
Someday I'll let you know how the final project turns out. I a great idea person...not as great on the follow through. We'll see how long I have this project floating around in my head.
