So here's a question for ya...

If you were in a college group stage singer's what songs would you want to sing with your group? I am looking for recent top hits or old school songs....acapella or musically arranged......movie or TV theme songs...country or pop.

My dad is a choral director at a college and I am trying to help him find some new/fun songs for his group to sing. And since I am a groupie who is at every concert they do...well, I have a bias in choosing songs that I want to sit and listen to! ;) He is an amazing music director!! He can get anyone to sing great! We absolutely love going to his concerts, and having some personally chosen songs will add so much more fun for us!

Now I liked songs like I'm Too Sexy for this shirt...this shirt...so sexy it hurts by Right Said Fred...however not something I want my kids singing around the house after the concert. No AC/DC, Aerosmith, or Genie in a Bottle...my children are groupies by default, so try to keep it clean! :)

Here are some to get your juices flowing...Kelly Clarkson's--Because of You, (old school) Brown Eyed Girl, Rascal Flats--Life is a Highway, (old school) Footloose...now jump in and give me your suggestions!!!

What were your favorite songs in jr. high, high school, college, or currently on the radio? I am counting on you to "help a sista out"! :)

How about En Vogue's "Never Gonna Get It" I think that would be a nice message for today's college students!

Oh, this is sooo much fun!! How about "Shake your Bon Bon" William Hung's version of coarse! Oh, I can just see the choreography now!

Ah, Heth, thanks for getting the juices flowing...I knew you would be there for a few good ones!

While Shake Your Bon-Bon might be a favorite song of ours...I do not want my girls shakin' theirs when we get home. Nor do I want them singing "Never Gonna Get It". If they learned that song...I would be sure to have them teach that to your little one, and wouldn't he make you proud singing that for grandma and grandpa! :)

Try not to loose sleep tonight now that the musical juices are flowing...Thanks for helping me out!

Oh Laura, this is too much fun! Clifford and I have been racking our brains, trying to remember that old life....back when we were young ones. You wouldn't know it now but I listened to rock music all the time as a teenager.

My favorites....

Chicago - Your'e a hard habit to break

Air Supply - I'm all out of love

Reo Speedwagon- I can't fight this feeling

Barry Manilow - Copacabana, I write the songs

Pat Benatar - Hit me with your best shot

Devo - Whip it

Debbie Boone - You light Up My Life

Lionel Richie - Dancin on the Ceilin

Bon Jovi - My Way

Journey - Any Way you Want it

Foreigner - Eye of the Tiger

Andy Gibb- Shadow Dancing

Michael jackson - Thriller

Cliff's favorite's:

Billy Joel - Just the way you are

Def Leppard - Pour some sugar on me

Kansas - Carry on my wayward son

Neil Diamond - sweet caroline

Simon and Garfunkle - The sound of silence or any song by them

I'm sure more will come to us......

You really need to get some feedback from Sue - now she knows songs....

A favorite of mine is "Baby it's cold outside" by Nick & Jessica :) Although.... do you want that being sung in the house???

Oh-- and I like the suggestion of the Chicago songs-- as I recall-- you and I did some beautiful duets on the way back from the cabin! :) I would guess any song on the CHICAGO CD would be fantastic :)

Oh- and I really WANT to sing great- and you claim that your dad can get ANYONE to sing great...... does this mean that I don't have to wait until heaven to ask for a microphone????? I'll be holding my breath :)
Here are some other ideas :)

Austin by Blake Shelton
If you see him/her by Reba & Brooks and dunn
In another’s eyes by Trisha Yearwood/Garth Brooks
I’m just a girl who can’t say No (from OKLAHOMA)
& I haven’t seen it yet- but High School Musical is a hot thing right now :)

Bets...we didn't own a Chicago CD...remember it was all on a dubbed-tape! But don't worry...you're still the meaning in my life! :)

Bets...you're soooo good with pop-culture. The High School Musical music is on order! Way to Go!!!

And yes...I believe that you could have a microphone...it might not be turned on but you could sing your heart out into it!

Mabel and Clifford--TMI, didn't need to know that you too love Def Leopard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me"! It was waaaaaay past your bedtime...hope the geritol doesn't kick in too early!

Clifford--you should come to a concert because currently on their hit list they are singing a Simon and Garfunkel song!

Personally, I think your family should seriously consider a rendition of Devo's, "Whip it".

Sweet child 'O mine - Guns N Roses.

Can you tell I am a God fearing Christian mother of 7?

Oh My Goodness - I love Guns N Roses and Def Leppard!
But, dont tell the kids!!!!

Jesse's Girl - Rick Springfield

He Ain't The Leavin Kind - Rascal Flatts

I think some Micheal Jackson like Thriller perhaps. I would like to see Mick Rock get his funk on with Beat it, just beat it :)

I remember at girls basketball games (when marilyn was playing) the school bands would play
R O C K in USA
The Shiloh crowd would Change it to
Rock**(your maidan name) in the USA. So maybe Mick could do a tribute to Marilyns' basketball career ;) Enjoy this day of your blessed life!

I went through the available music for his group and have just sent him a list of 24 songs! I am totally his favorite daughter. I kept calling him last night when I would find a new good song...finally he told me not to call anymore because he was tired! I felt the love! ;)

They do have OutKast's Hey Ya! available...he has to do that one! I did find another Rascal Flatts song and a Kelly Clarkson song...not to mention a Celion Dion hit that I love and some American Idols top hits. I did find some old school songs from Grease that would be fun...

Sorry I didn't find any Michael Jackson or Devo...no Guns and Roses either. Thanks for all of your helpful suggestion! You guys are great!

I can't wait to see which ones he chooses! I know he loves me for this! :)

I agree with most of Mabel's choices. Brought back some real memories! Chicago, Foreigner, Kansas.... Dust in the Wind... all we are is dust in the wind.

How about some Emerson, Lake and Palmer? I had Love at First Sight at my wedding -

What about all the hits you have helped me produce.... come on though, no Aerosmith? No sweet emotions? No walk this way?

C'mon girl ... with your connections to the music world?

Milli Vanilli is my vote. That is easier ... slip in an 8 track and let the chorus fake it.

Rock On

By the way ... how did you end up in Fiji?

RockStar--After your European Tour...I was so exhausted. We headed to Fiji to catch a few waves, and ended up loving it there! :)
