And the Salad Shooter is one of them! Last year for Christmas I got this little treasure. It was from my sister who always has wished that she owned one. I would never have imagined that I would adore my salad shooter, but I do. Alas, a kitchen tool that makes the kitchen fun! Men and some women (you know who you are) adore real actual heavy-duty tools, saws, blades...things that could actually cause bodily harm in a severe way. The Salad Shooter is just a fun little gadget...which shouldn't cause bodily harm. Tonight I sliced up some potatoes and fried them up with sausage. I had so much fun putting them in there and pressing the button. Maybe it was a little way to get some bound up tension out...shooting potato slices into a sizzling bath of butter. I am not a big salad eater so don't worry if you aren't either. This little guy could be called the Kitchen Shooter. Not only does it shoot potatoes, it shoots some mean shredded zucchini which turns into a delicious loaf of scrumptious zucchini bread.
Today I am choosing to enjoy the little things in life...I am actually trying to force myself to! Therefore, you receive an entire blog post which sings the praises of a little kitchen toy that I enjoyed today.
This has got to be one of the most boring posts EVER...I am fully aware of that. But you have read it thus far...so now I must apologize! I am trying to keep myself busy and distracted...sorry that you had to take the brunt of that!
Hope there is still some blogger love out there for me! :)

Here is some "blogger love" from me to YOU!! :-) I didn't think that your post was boring - you know how easily entertained I am!! :-) Hang in there, Laura...enjoying the "little things" can be so hard when there is something SO heavy on your heart and so BIG in your life. My prayers go out to you and your family...yes, like you said in your previous post...the girls are too very involved in the waiting and wondering that you and Matt are going through. May the Lord be strengthening you and upholding your family during this time of WAIT.
Lots of blogger love here my friend! I always enjoy ALL of your post! Thanks for the reminder to enjoy the little things...even a salad shooter.
It takes work to back off and enjoy the simpler things.
It was so hard when we were in the process of finding a child to adopt. It was much easier for my husband who is always willing to leave things to God.
But I would WORK at finding agencies, looking at websites for children, calling everywhere. It was emotionally draining and time consuming. Blondie would pray for a child every night - even after I stopped praying (because the praying hurt, too). One day I was talking to my SW and said - you know I think I have to stop thinking about getting another child and concentrate on the one I have. It seemed my life had centered on finding a child - and it resulted in my darling child also focusing on that. We changed our prayer to "if God wants us to have a child" and let us accept whatever He decides. I couldn't do it anymore, so I stopped other than a once in awhile reminder that we were available.
We did adopt. We brought home Red when he was 3 weeks old. He'll be three in Feb.
God answers in many ways - Yes, No - and Wait.
For us it was wait. For 5 years, wait.
And then Red. Oh, it was RED!! It was almost as if God said, you want a child... .here! I am grateful to Him... and for this lovely, wild boy.
HAHAHAHAHA.
Not boring... FUNNY.
I WANNA SALAD SHOOTER! WAAAAAAAAAAA...can you have a contest like the Livesays and give it to me, please, please, please?!?!
Jana the Queen--
If I gave you MY Salad Shooter...then I would be giving up the fun things in life! Maybe you should try to be a really, really good girl and see if Santa will bring you one of your very own!
Didn't Courtney post recently about the little things in life? Why not enjoy fun kitchen gadgets like your salad shooter?! :)
Are you serious about the salad shooter turning zuchini slices into delicious zuchini loaf? I have to get one of those!
Here is a quote my sister Mabel gave me this morning, out of Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for my Highest,
"We all see God in the exceptional things, but it requires the growth of spiritual discipline to see God in every detail. Never believe that the so-called random events of life are anything less than God's appointed order. Be ready to discover His divine designs anywhere and everywhere."
Even in the enjoyment of a kitchen utensil!
Irma-- please be sure to tell Mabel that I was struck by that quote from Oswald Chambers as well. Praise Jesus!
Oh and, Irma, yes it does work to make a delicious zuccini bread. I know you have a love-hate relationship with zuccini. You might want to try to my recipe and you might fall back in love with the stupid stuff! This would of course, require me to remember where I found that recipe. That is the problem with always trying new recipes...
BLOG LOVE -- BLOG LOVE!!!
I dont have one of those, but it sounds like now that I am going to be a home mommy, I might need to get one.
Okay I am jealous I want one of those!! And I love zuccini bread YUMMY!! Not a boring post, thank you for the reminder to enjoy the little things. I often forget this.
Love ya!!
Hey Laura, glad to hear you're having sooo much fun with your salad shooter! I don't think I can ever get one because every time I hear the word salad shooter, I'm reminded of that joke...you know the one...what do you call a vegetarian that has diarrhea?
