I just have to let it out that I am really excited about who McCain has chosen as his VP running mate! Please join me in fervantly praying for our country during this election year. As believer's we can not be apathetic about this. We have to join together and storm the gates of heaven for the morality of this country.

Amen!!!!!!!! And I agree!
You continue to surprise me. You have all these wonderful layers that you are slowly letting us see and boy am I glad.
Excited and praying too!
Definitely a strategic move!!!
Does this mean you are "coming out of the closet" as a CONSERVATIVE??
I have one word for you.........................................................................STRATEGERY
STRATEGERY!
EXCITEMENT. . . .can't contain it! McCain's choice totally over-the-top! Awesome and very Strategic!!
Praying for our great nation!!!
Heth--you know I am more a Conservative that even you are! I am not legalistic, but pure conservative. always have been, always will be. :)
I love stategery...I also love conspiracy theories too. :)
Lisa--your comment made me smile. I am a very passionate person about what I believe in, but I am pretty silly too. What else do you want to know about me?!?!!?
OH AMEN AMEN!!!!!! I am right there along side of you praying!!
ange
be sure to keep Sarah Palin's family in your prayers too. they are going to be under a lot of criticism from a lot of the media. especially because of their decision to not abort their youngest child. (he is a downs baby and Sarah was over forty so lots of people will probably put her down for what i think of as a wonderful decision)
that's what i am thinking is going to happen anyway..
I have been lurking for awhile but about this I have to shout out a big AMEN!!!!
God Bless,
Rose Anne
Is the "baby" Sarah's baby, or her oldest daughter's baby? That is all the talk right now.
I am excited too...I must say it was an interesting and very strategic move too!
I think all of the rumors about her baby are from obama lovers...they want to cause people to question her and look down on her. From everything I know right now...it is her baby...and all the talk is just talk. Our media is very biased and will do anything to show favor to one party over the other.
Don't have Google acct, so "anon" is only option.
McCain's token woman is under FBI investigation for "Abuse of Office" for trying to get her then brother-in-law fired because he and his wife (her sister) were in a custody battle and divorce).
Check it out for yourself on Google.
Just when you thought the Dems couldn't get any dirtier....here comes the mud slinging!! It is sad really.
Anon--you can use the NAME button and use your name when posting. Or leave it at the bottom of your anonymous comment. I am guessing that you are an obama supporter due to calling Sarah Palin "McCain's token woman". Regardless of what you think...I still like her and McCain. Nobody is perfect...no politician will ever be perfect.
We look at the big picture. We fully believe that voting for someone and choosing to ignore their stance on abortion will have moral consequences. I will always vote with someone who is pro-life.
In an effort to keep the facts straight, I would like to add that Sarah Palin is NOT being investigated by the FBI! The Legislative Council in Alaska is spending $100,000 to investigate the firing of a Public Service Commissioner...
I left the first Anonymous comment but I didn't leave the 2nd! LOL Hmm...
Sarah Palin ROCKS!!!!!!!!! Love her, McCain finally made a good campaign choice!
Stoked about Sarah Palin! I really am more excited about it all now.
Okay...first of all--to anon #2: calling Palin a "token" woman is ridiculous. The choice of VP is ALWAYS a well-planned, strategic move for any pres. nominee. If you have any evidence that McCain chose her only for her gender, then please share that with us so we can actually have intelligent discussion. If you are simply making things up or assuming things and then leveling groundless accusations (which it seems you are doing), you are demeaning women and preventing genuine discussion based on facts.
Heather--Those outlandish stories about the baby being her daughter's came from far-left, hate-filled "news commentators"-- not the organized Democratic party. To Obama's credit, he immediately denounced such strategies. He said that attacks on a candidate's family are reprehensible and irrelevant. And let's face it: I can think of several right-wing commentators who say innappropriate, hate-filled things about people they disagree with. It's not ONLY democrats who can play dirty.
Palin IS being investigated. Of course, if she acted inappropriately, we need to take that seriously. But let's remember that she's innocent until proven guilty. I read that she wanted the bro-in-law fired because he had a history of drinking on the job. Don't know if it's true, but it shows that there are two sides to every story. Let's allow the investigator to do his job before we, without knowing many of the facts, judge Palin's character.
Heidi--If you would like to talk politics, let's talk. First of all I NEVER said she wasn't being investigated just NOT by the FBI...Also, I NEVER said it was the DNC I did say it was the dems and yes, the left wing wacko's are the dems!
I am sorry however, if you can't tell my tone, I am pretty light hearted in my talking but it does not come across however I am firm in my beliefs and I do believe the repubs are getting an unfair shake...just look at the coverage from the media...I could go on with facts and stats like I said if you want to talk politics, lets talk! And the dems are playing dirty since the majority of the mass media are known democrats, they can't even provide us with unbalanced coverage.
oops, that should have said balanced coverage because they can provide us with unbalanced
Heather! Don't be mad! I am being fairly lighthearted too. The Palin comment was directed towards anon, not you. Sorry for the confusion. Your comment about her not being investigated by the FBI was completely accurate. I was just trying to confirm that she is indeed under investigation; however, that doesn't mean that she did something wrong or that it gives us the right to confuse and misrepresent the facts like anon did (i.e. writing that she is being investigated by the FBI, which is completely false like you pointed out).
I agree with you about the media too. I definitely think that we have left-biased media, and I think media coverage that is not left biased is labeled as ultra conservative. At the same time, I have seen "dirty politics" on both sides. I do think the baby stories are ridiculous, and I also do think that more vile, disgusting talk comes from the left than from the right. But I also have heard right-wingers say horrible things, and I know of left-wingers who are sincere and earnest in their beliefs without being offensive. I just don't want to paint all dems as being a certain way because of some "bad eggs" in the party. Just like I wouldn't want people to say that, because I love Jesus, I am a murderer because some individuals, in the name of God, have killed abortion doctors. I think it's important to recognize that Obama *did* do the right thing by speaking out against the left-wing attacks on Palin's family.
Heather, the last thing I want to do is pick a fight! Sorry for any confusion; I am not trying to be mean. Now, I need to go put my kiddos to bed so I can hopefully sneak in a nap. Ah, doesn't that sound so much better than talking about politics? ;)
Take my advice - don't talk politics. LOL I'm the first "Anon" & the reason I did that is because...I started innocently making some posts on my blog regarding Obama (I'm voting for Obama) & it turned into an immature war. LOL I actually had to start deleting comments.
To me vote for who you think you should. I was surprised @ what transpired on my blog. People don't have to be mean & ugly just because they are voting for someone different. It's really disappointing. :(
Anon--I disagree with you. It does need to be talked about. Our media is so biased for Obama that those of us who have a strong stand against him need to speak the truth. It isn't just about liking one man better than another. It is about the future morality of our country. We need to help make the truth about these candidates known. Did you know that Obama believes in killing a baby after it has been born if the abortion didn't work?!?!?! There is no way that I as a believer can stand quietly by and allow "to each his own." Right now the media is painting a picture of Sarah Palin not having enough experience to lead the country should McCain pass away (which is another scenario they are painting)...this is ridiculous because she would come into the VP having more experience than Obama himself...yet are we hearing any of that through the media? I have never seen such a blatant push by the media for one candidate. It has always been biased, but never to the point of intentionally not giving a party air-time. It is wrong...and I believe those of us that know some of these true facts...need to help make them known. Even though the media has already pretty much declared him as the new president, I am praying that this will not be the case. The morality of our country will suffer gravely should he take office. The Lord is bigger than any network. I believe that before the Lord, I can not be apathetic to what is happening in our country. It is time for believer's to rise up and be a voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can see the appeal for Obama, he is very charismatic. If I didn't feel so strongly about abortion and if I wanted nationalized health care I would totally vote for him too!
As far as the war in Iraq, he has changed his position so many times. He now says that he will not immediately pull out the troops but instead work with the commanders on the ground to do what is best (that is paraphrasing I know) but you can go to his website and read his stance on the war.
Laura - discussion, yes. Absolutely. Mean & inconsiderate to others - no. That's what happened on my blog.
And yes I agree about the Born Alive Act! I'm SICK about it but doing all the research I can. I am pro-life!!!! :)
If you are pro-life, I don't understand why you would state that you are voting for a canidate that is clearly not.
Hey, after the talk about Barack and abortion, I started wondering about McCain's voting record on the issue. Here's a great website that gives quotes and votes on different issues:
http://www.ontheissues.org
Just click on a picture to find out the person's record. At the bottom of each page you can take a quiz to see whose political stance best matches your beliefs. I thought it was a good way of getting info straight from the candidates.
Laura, thanks for reminding me that Palin has more experience that Obama! I hadn't realized that, and it makes me even more comfortable with her as a VP. (You know, because according to the media, John McCain is liable to keel over any minute now :)
O.K. Ladies, I am off to make supper now and I am going to try to pry myself away from here until morning (we'll see:)) but I have to say this has been a lot of fun for me today!!! Clearly, I don't get out enough
Laura, because I'm trying to look at the whole picture.
I am a Christian, I am most definitely pro-life & anti-gay marriage. That said, we currently have a President who is the same as I. Are abortions still performed? Yes. Is it legal for gays to marry in certain states? Yes. In my opinion, unfortunately, McCain can't make any changes just like Bush has not been able to.
Hmmmm...even though I am in a "sleep deprived, newly adopted children who are experiencing intense adjustment issues coma", I just cant resist this one...
Lisa - Laura is like an onion, except that she smells a whole lot better.
And for any one else, yes, Gov. Palin did give birth to a son with Down Syndrome in April of this year. Trig is his name. They knew by pre-natal testing that he would have DS. Thank you Jesus - she is pro-life.
In America, the rate of abortion of children with Down syndrome is 90%. So, 9 out of 10 of the little girls like my Annie never get to live to stand in front of a mirror and look at their pretty faces and wear gloves and sing songs and dance.
Dear Anonymous:
I could not resist responding to your last comment. First of all, I think you are missing the big picture and need some historical perspective. It seems like what you are frustrated about is our inability as believers to quickly turn back the clock on many of the secular progressive policies that have infultrated our country over the past 40 years and you are longing for us to restore our strong moral foundation, rooted in Judeo-Christian values, namely the Bible. This moral relativism teaches that there is no absolute truth, and thus no real right or wrong. Thus, we should not make moral judgments and definitley not enshrine such "close-minded and intolerant" moral judgments in our laws. Thus, if a woman wants to abort a baby, who is to say that is wrong if it is "right" for her? Who is to say that homosexual marriage is wrong? It took many years, starting in the 1960's to erode our moral culture to where we are now. We will not take it back during one president's administration, even if that president is a committed conservative Christian. Especially, if the president has a Democrat Congress to work with, like Bush does now and has had for the past 4 years. Please do not blame President Bush for not making as much progress as you would have liked in the past 8 years. Trust me, we will move a long way backwards in this regard if Obama is elected President with a Democrat congress to push their agenda through, especially with the likes of Nancy Pelosi (Speaker of the House) at the helm. We as Christians need to be in it for the long haul and stay committed, knowing that it will take years of hard work and prayer to take our country back.
Finally, to specifically address abortion and gay marriage. Both are primarily regulated by the individual states and what a president can do on both is currently limited by the courts. Abortion, especially before the second trimester, is specifically protected as a woman's "choice" according to Supreme Court decisions. After that, neither states nor the federal government can put "unreasonable" restrictions on abortions. Without a change in policy by the Supreme Court, Bush did about all he legally could do by pushing through congress and passing the partial birth abortion ban, so give him some credit.
Gay marriage is also regulated by the states. They can either outlaw it or legalize it. Most states curretnly outlaw it, but it is legal in a few (Mass. & Cal. I believe), with more likely to come. The Federal Defense of Marriage act says that a state which prohibits gay marriage does not have to recognize a gay marraige from another state. But that law will soon be challenged and probably be stricken down as gay couples move from state to state and want their marraiges recognized.
This brings us to the real crux of the matter, the fate of these two important issues really lies in the hands of the Supreme Court. The court is curreently split with 4 liberal justices (Stevens, Souter, Breyer, Ginsberg), 4 conservative justices (Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Scalia) and 1 swing vote (Kennedy). Pleae note that Bush's two appointees are Roberts and Alito. We all know that the President nominates the justices, with the approval of the Senate. So ... who we elect as our President and Senators really matters when it comes to these issues. I think so many people forget this whole aspect of elections and how it directly impacts us and our families, not to mention the moral culture of our country.
Obama has a very liberal voting record in the Senate and has said he would NOT nominate justices like Scalia, Alito, Thomas and Roberts, who are the moral conservatives on the court. Also keep in mind that being pro-abortion has been a long-time litmus test for leaders of the Democrat party, especially so for Democrat nominees to the Supreme Court. With the liberal interests that Obama will be beholden to, I would put the chances of him nominating a pro-life or anti gay marriage justice to the court at ZERO!!
Even if you are not a big supporter of McCain, please consider voting for him for this reason alone, as he has made it clear he would nominate justices more to our liking.

Heidi:
I know you are not an Obama supporter and are just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt on the Pallin attacks, but please do not give him too much credit. Although his motto is "Change We Can Believe In", he is proving more and more each day that he is just like all other politicians: naming a 30 yr. senate partisan who is known for being an attack dog and was particularly viscious during the Clarence Thomas approval hearings; raising and spending more money than any other presidential candidate in history (so much for getting money out of politics!!)
His denouncement of the attacks on Sarah Palin is one of the oldest political tricks in the book. Stay above the fray and appear dignified, while allowing your surrogates and others in your party to make the viscious attacks. Sounds more like change we CAN'T believe in to me.

i'm going to choose to not respond on the blog about my politics. it would take too long and this looks like it's had a good discussion.
i love reading your blog!! i know, i haven't done anything on mine. someday......
Great discussion. I love that most of you have really investigated your reasons and have thought and prayed for who to vote for.
I believe that it is a great opportunity to make a change for our country and have a real voice as a woman. Stand behind this pro-life candidate and let the media know that we will not stand for the biased news media any longer.
The speeches last night were great and really got me excited.
I just have to say I LOVE Sarah Palin!!
Michelle
Did I mention that I love Sarah Palin? After her speech, even more so!!
