Simple Pleasures in life...

Today I had a wonderful experience. I came home from the girls' soccer game and grabbed the mail. In there was a package addressed to me from one of my dear friends from the the town we moved from nearly two years ago (I can't believe it has almost been two years!). In the package my sweet friend, Sheila, had a package of Coconut Cream coffee and an Almond Joy candy bar just for me! Her card said, "Just because I miss our time together--so indulge in some chocolate and coffee." I can't tell you how much of a "pick-me-up" this was for me today. With all of the intensity surrounding my days it was the greatest pleasure today to brew that pot of coffee (which I immediately did) and enjoy that candy bar!

Shelia and I used to do all of our shopping together. We met about 6 years ago when we both were living in family campus housing. Matt was going to school and Shelia was going to school. We loved having such wonderful neighbors and it was such great motivation to go get my groceries. We'd call each other almost nightly to check if each other needed to go get any groceries, toilet paper, etc. Our shopping trips were always late at night after the kids were in bed and they were always followed by some type of treat! Our pots of coffee were always shared with each other as well. Living so close to each other, we always would call down and share that we had a fresh pot of coffee on and invite the other one to come and have a cup! Oh how I miss you, Sheila! Thank you for the wonderful blessing of simple pleasures today! My love language is totally "gifts" (yes, gifts...I just love them!), so you filled my tank in a great way today. I know it is candy and coffee, but they are two things that I hold dear to my heart! ;) It was the unexpectedness of the gift. It was the blessing of something simple to bless me today. It was missing you! I can't tell you how much your kind gesture meant to me today! Sheila, you are just the greatest...I miss you!!!!!

When everything in life is full of intensity...sometimes it is just the simple things that cheer you up and pull you through!

What a wonderful thing...care packages are the best. Isn't it neat to reflect on the beautiful blessings God bestowed upon you in the midst of the chaos of UND Family Housing :) ha ha. I miss those days!
